The Derby Alumni tracker checks in with the horses who raced in the Kentucky Derby, keeping up with what they have done since they ran for the roses.

2025 Kentucky Derby

Three entrants from the 2025 Kentucky Derby lined up Friday in the Grade 2 Alysheba over 1 1/6 miles at Churchill Downs. Baeza fared the best of the group, rallying late for a three-quarter-length third behind Corporate Power and Skippylongstocking despite blowing the break. East Avenue hounded the early pace but flattened to fourth in the lane, 5 1/2 lengths behind Corporate Power. Grande stalked the pace before weakening in the lane, ultimately finishing sixth beaten 8 3/4 lengths.

Another pair from the race contested the 1 1/16-mile Lake Ouachita on Saturday at Oaklawn. Coal Battle, making his first start since the Indiana Derby (G3) last July, tracked the pace and fought Willy D's hard down the lane, ultimately missing by a neck in his 4-year-old debut. American Promise, making his second start of the year, disputed the early pace with Willy D's but retreated to finish sixth and last, beaten 12 1/4 lengths.

Owen Almighty made his second start of the year in a 7 1/2-furlong allowance-optional claiming sprint April 28 at Churchill Downs. Uncharacteristically off the pace, he made a rally in the lane but had to steady between horses midstretch. He kept on to capture second, 2 3/4 lengths behind U Devil You.

2024 Kentucky Derby

Four entrants from the 2024 Kentucky Derby scored in allowance company over recent weeks. Stronghold, in his first start since last August, did the dirty work up front in the 1 1/16-mile dirt race on April 17 at Oaklawn, battled with Bendoog all the way to the wire and dead-heated for the win, four lengths clear of the rest of the pack.

Grand Mo the First, racing for the first time in 11 months, stalked the pace in an allowance-level dirt mile on April 24 at Gulfstream before taking over in the lane and hanging on to win by a length.

Catalytic, stepping down to allowance company May 2 at Laurel after three straight graded stakes, stalked the pace in the 1 1/16-mile dirt race before taking command in the lane, driving clear to win by 3 1/2 lengths.

Just a Touch settled well off the pace in a 1 1/16-mile turf allowance on April 16 at Keeneland. At the rear of the eight-horse field early, he made a sustained run and got up in time, winning by a length over Judge Davis in his first try on the lawn.

T O Password contested the one-mile Oasis Stakes at Tokyo on April 26, stepping down to the listed level after a Group 2 try last out. He responded well to the drop in class, tracking in a good spot and finishing a narrow second behind Don in the Mood.

2023 Kentucky Derby

King Russell raced April 17 at Oaklawn, his 6-year-old debut, in the same allowance race won by Stronghold. Close to the rear of the compact pack early, he didn't muster a run and crossed the wire sixth and last, 11 1/2 lengths behind dead-heat winners Stronghold and Bendoog.

Derma Sotogake contested the Kawasaki Kinen on April 8 at Kawasaki. Settled toward the rear of the 11-horse field, he never made a rally and crossed the wire ninth behind Kazeno Runner.

2022 Kentucky Derby

The 2022 Kentucky Derby field may be 7 years old, but even so, three of the entrants recently saw action in graded-stakes races. White Abarrio contested the most eagerly awaited race of the spring in the handicap division, the Oaklawn Handicap (G2) on April 18. He lined up against leading 4-year-olds Sovereignty and Journalism and overhauled them both to win by two lengths.

Two others raced at Keeneland on April 18. Tawny Port made his seasonal debut in the Elkhorn (G2). Settled at the rear of the main pack early, he made an early move. He was outkicked in the lane but still checked in fourth, 11 3/4 lengths behind blowout winner Burnham Square but only two lengths behind runner-up Desvio. Rattle N Roll made his first start since the Saudi Cup (G1) in the Ben Ali (G3). Well off the pace as usual, he raced into range around the far turn but flattened in the lane, finishing fifth, 11 lengths behind winner Stars and Stripes.

2021 Kentucky Derby

No one from the 2021 Kentucky Derby field has raced in recent weeks, but Like the King remains active on the work tab. He most recently drilled last Wednesday at Woodbine, his third drill in Canada after a series of moves at Casse Training Center.

2020 Kentucky Derby

The 2020 Kentucky Derby field has remained quiet in recent weeks. None are active on the work tab, and none has raced since Enforceable was the runner-up in the Clásico Ciudad de Lima (G2) in January at Monterrico in Peru.
