Kentucky Derby tab: Paladin has first work since Risen Star win

Paladin worked Friday for the first time since his win in the Grade 2 Risen Star.

The Gun Runner colt breezed four furlongs in 49.80 seconds at Payson Park Training Center, 33rd fastest of 70 at the distance.

Paladin, who also won the Remsen (G2), is now 3-for-3 for trainer Chad Brown. He also is atop the leaderboard for Kentucky Derby 2026 with 60 points.

Paladin was one of 12 horses with Derby odds in Las Vegas and other HRN top contenders who were on the Friday tab.

Arabia Wild (Gun Runner) worked four furlongs in 49.0 seconds at Fair Grounds on Friday morning. It was the 17th fastest of 50 works at the distance. His previous work was seven days ago going four furlongs at Fair Grounds. In his last start he placed fourth in an allowance race going 1 1/16 miles on the main track at Fair Grounds on Jan. 17 for trainer Brad Cox.

Carson Street (Street Sense) worked four furlongs in 47.6 seconds at Fair Grounds on Friday morning. It was the fifth fastest of 50 works at the distance. This was his first work since his last race. In his last start he placed fifth in the Risen Star (G2) going 1 1/8 miles on the main track at Fair Grounds on Feb. 14 for trainer Brendan Walsh.

Desert Gate (Omaha Beach), a Grade 3 winner (2025 Best Pal), worked five furlongs in 59.6 seconds at Santa Anita on Friday morning. It was the fourth fastest of 19 works at the distance. This was his first work since his last race. In his last start he placed fourth in the Robert B. Lewis (G3) going one mile on the main track at Santa Anita on Feb. 7 for trainer Bob Baffert.

Epic Desire (Uncle Mo) worked four furlongs in 50.2 seconds at Palm Beach Downs on Friday morning. It was the 15th fastest of 16 works at the distance. His previous work was seven days ago going four furlongs at Palm Beach Downs. In his last start he placed fifth in the Sam F. Davis going 1 1/16 miles on the main track at Tampa Bay Downs on Feb. 7 for trainer Todd Pletcher.

Golden Tempo (Curlin), a Grade 3 winner (2026 Lecomte), worked four furlongs in 47.8 seconds at Fair Grounds on Friday morning. It was the seventh fastest of 50 works at the distance. This was his first work since his last race. In his last start he placed third in the Risen Star (G2) going 1 1/8 miles on the main track at Fair Grounds on Feb. 14 for trainer Cherie DeVaux.

Grittiness (Curlin) worked four furlongs in 50.2 seconds at Belmont Park on Friday morning. It was the 48th fastest of 79 works at the distance.
