Kentucky Derby leaderboard: Lecomte puts 2 in top 20
Trainer Cherie DeVaux has two colts in the top 20 on the Kentucky Derby 2026 leaderboard after Golden Tempo and Mesquite finished 1-2 in Saturday's Grade 3 Lecomte at Fair Grounds.
Golden Tempo is alone in second place with 20 points from the win, and Mesquite joined the board at no. 15. DeVaux has not had a starter in the Kentucky Derby.

Ted Noffey retains the no. 1 spot, with 40 points, with Litmus Test in third, followed by Chip Honcho.
The Lecomte was the first in a series of eight races that offer 20 points to the winner.
No points preps are on the schedule this weekend, but Jan. 31 brings three: the Southwest (G3) at Oaklawn, the Holy Bull (G3) at Gulfstream and the listed Withers at Aqueduct.
The following week, Tampa Bay Downs hosts the Sam F. Davis (G3) and Santa Anita will offer the Robert B. Lewis (G3). Then comes the listed Sunland Park Derby on Feb. 15, and the listed John Battaglia Memorial on Feb. 21 at Turfway Park will be the last 20-point race until the April 11 Lexington (G3), which is the final stop on the Derby trail.
