Kentucky Derby contenders: Nash is 1 of 11 on Friday tab

With his next stop yet to be determined on the road to Kentucky Derby 2024, Grade 3 Lecomte runner-up Nash got back on the work tab Friday morning with a breeze at Fair Grounds.

The Medaglia d’Oro colt who is best-priced at 45-1 in Las Vegas futures for the Derby went a half-mile in 49.6 seconds.

His stablemate Ethan Energy, who is 80-1 in Nevada after his fourth-place finish in the Lecomte, worked four furlongs in 48.4 seconds over the same fast main track Friday.

Tuscan Sky (Vino Rosso) worked five furlongs in 1:00.7 at Palm Beach Downs. It was the third fastest of eight works at the distance. His previous work was seven days ago going four furlongs at Palm Beach Downs. In his last start he won a maiden race going six furlongs on the main track at Aqueduct on Jan. 13 for trainer Todd Pletcher.

Real Men Violin (Mendelssohn) worked five furlongs in 59.6 seconds at Fair Grounds. It was the fastest of 31 works at the distance. His previous work was seven days ago going four furlongs at Fair Grounds. In his last start he placed second in the Kentucky Jockey Club (G2) going 1 1/16 miles on the main track at Churchill Downs on Nov. 25 for trainer Kenny McPeek.
