The Derby Alumni tracker checks in with the horses who raced in the Kentucky Derby, both this year and in previous years, keeping up with what they have done since they ran for the roses.

2025 Kentucky Derby

Chunk of Gold still seeks his first graded-stakes win, but he continued his tendency to run well in graded company June 21 when he finished second in the Grade 3 Ohio Derby. Sent off the favorite in the field of eight, he could not reel in Mo Plex but chased on for second, two lengths behind that foe and another two lengths ahead of third-place McAfee.

Tiztastic also returned to the races for the first time since the Kentucky Derby. On Saturday he got back on the grass for the first time since winning a stakes at Kentucky Downs last September, contesting the American Derby at Churchill Downs. Sent off as the favorite, he settled at the rear of the five-horse field and never fired, finishing last, 6 3/4 lengths behind winner Minaret Station.

Chunk of Gold jumps right back into action Saturday in the Indiana Derby (G3) at Horseshoe Indianapolis. He is one of two Kentucky Derby alumni in the race. Coal Battle also is entered, making his first start since running third in the Matt Winn (G3).

2024 Kentucky Derby

Ten entrants from the 2024 Kentucky Derby have raced in recent weeks, with five appearing in Grade 1 company.

The top two finishers from last year's run for the roses were among a deep field for the Stephen Foster (G1) at Churchill Downs. Though the later-blooming Mindframe carried the day, Sierra Leone overcame a slow break and kept going for second, a length behind the winner. Mystik Dan tracked the pace and rallied inside into the lane but flattened late to finish fourth, 2 1/2 lengths behind the winner.

Another pair from the Derby constested the Met Mile (G1) on Belmont Stakes day at Saratoga. Fierceness, sent off the odds-on favorite, stalked the pace but could not reel in Raging Torrent, finishing second by 2 1/2 lengths. Just a Touch, near the rear of the compact field early, chased on for third another 2 1/4 lengths behind Fierceness. The other recent runner in top-level company was Endlessly, who settled toward the rear in the Manhattan (G1) and passed a few tiring foes in the lane to finish fifth, 5 3/4 lengths behind the frontrunning Deterministic.

Two horses from the field posted recent victories in non-stakes company. Catalytic, coming off of four straight second-place finishes, broke that streak in a dirt mile allowance at Gulfstream on June 5. Sent off the 7-10 favorite, he stalked the pace and drew off in the lane, winning by 2 3/4 lengths over pacesetter Beastly Speed. Mugatu, winless since a maiden-breaker as a juvenile, returned to the winner's circle Thursday in a $20,000 claiming race for non-winners of two races, going 1 1/16 miles on the dirt. He rallied from last to first, winning by 1 1/2 lengths over Army Hero. He had been owned and trained by Fergus Bogle for that start, but was claimed to new owner-trainer Steve Asmussen out of that race.

Three others had recent races. Epic Ride finished fourth in the Mighty Beau at Churchill Downs on June 7. Society Man and Resilience crossed the wire second and third in a second-level allowance June 8 at Saratoga, no match for runaway winner Bramito.

Four horses from the 2024 Kentucky Derby field are entered to race in the coming days. Honor Marie, who won the Isaac Murphy Marathon at Churchill Downs in his last start, steps up in class Friday for the Suburban (G2) at Saratoga. Grand Mo the First, second in an allowance in his seasonal return in May, constests the Soldier's Dancer Stakes on the lawn at Gulfstream on Saturday. Track Phantom and Encino also return Saturday, in the Michael G. Schaefer Memorial on the dirt at Horseshoe Indianapolis.

2023 Kentucky Derby

Four horses from the 2023 Kentucky Derby field have seen recent action, with one showing up in stakes company. Hit Show made his first start since his upset win in the Dubai World Cup (G1) on Saturday in the Stephen Foster. He settled toward the rear but could not threaten the top four in the lane, finishing fifth, eight lengths adrift of Mindframe.

Three others raced in allowance company. Sun Thunder settled near the rear in a first-level allowance Sunday going 1 1/16 miles on dirt at Churchill Downs but could not muster a late rally, finishing fifth, ten lengths behind winner Gun Party. King Russell contested a second-level allowance over that same course and distance June 14, trackng the pace but flattening to finish fifth, 9 1/4 lengths behind Not This Boy. Mandarin Hero, making his second start of the year, was eighth in an allowance June 19 going about 1 1/4 miles on the dirt at Kawasaki.

Disarm is entered to race Friday for his first start since Oaklawn. He stretches out to 1 1/4 miles for the Suburban (G2) at Saratoga.

2022 Kentucky Derby

Three entrants from the 2023 Kentucky Derby have seen recent action, including two in graded-stakes races. White Abarrio, making his first start since winning the Ghostzapper in March at Gulfstream, finished fourth in the Met Mile (G1) on June 7 at Saratoga. Bumped several times in the early stages, he tracked in range early but found no rally in the lane, finishing fourth, 5 1/4 lengths behind Raging Torrent.

Tawny Port was entered in the Belmont Gold Cup (G3), a two-mile turf race that was washed off and contested at 1 3/4 miles on the Saratoga slop June 6. He chased mid-field early but came up empty after about 1 1/8 miles and was eased, finishing a well-beaten seventh behind Parchment Party.

Ethereal Road was sent off the odds-on favorite of four in an open $12,500 claiming race at 1 1/16 miles on the Churchill Downs dirt June 19. Chasing at the rear of a very tight pack, he emptied out in the lane to finish fourth and last, 11 3/4 lengths behind the winner Release McCraken.

2020 Kentucky Derby

Enforceable won at the top level for the first time in his career June 22 in the Clásico Jockey Club del Perú (G1) at Monterrico. He tracked the pace and, despite being carried out into the lane, finished strongest of all to prevail. Returned to training after proving infertile at stud, Enforceable has been running in Perú since October 2023. The win was the seventh of his career and his fourth since moving to Perú.
