Kentucky Derby: Lecomte winner Golden Tempo gets back to work

Golden Tempo returned to the work tab Friday morning for the first time since winning the Grade 3 Lecomte Stakes at Fair Grounds on Jan. 17. He worked four furlongs on the Fair Grounds dirt in 49.6 seconds. 

The son of Curlin led a Cherie DeVaux-trained exacta in the Lecomte. He rallied from last to first, getting up by three quarters of a length over stablemate Mesquite. Golden Tempo won the Lecomte in only his second career start. His only other start came in a six-furlong maiden special weight at Fair Grounds on Dec. 20, in which he overcame a slow break and made another winning last-to-first run.

Mesquite also returned to the work tab Friday at Fair Grounds, going four furlongs in 48.4 seconds.
