Kentucky Derby Futures: Art Collector clear second choice

With a win in the Ellis Park Derby in his last start on Aug. 9, Art Collector has emerged as the second choice in the William Hill Kentucky Derby Futures. The son of Bernardini sits at 4/1 odds in the latest set of futures, after being at 7/2 last week and opening at 125/1.

The biggest mover in the futures was Pneumatic, trained by Steve Asmussen, who was the favorite in Saturday’s Pegasus Stakes at Monmouth, which offered 20 points towards the Kentucky Derby to the winner, and looked every bit of it, dispensing the field with ease. Pneumatic moved from 125/1 to 60/1 with the win after opening at 100/1. Pneumatic however; may target the Preakness instead of the Derby.

Travers and Belmont Stakes winner Tiz the Law continues to be the favorite at 4/5 odds, a change from his 6/5 odds last week. The son of Constitution opened at 20/1.

Reappearing on this week’s futures list after being absent last week is Necker Island, who finished third in the Ellis Park Derby on Aug. 9. The son of Hard Spun currently sits at 150/1 odds after opening at 100/1.

The only other horse with single digit odds is Honor A.P. at 7/1. The Kentucky Derby is scheduled to run Sept. 5.
