Kentucky Derby Future Wager: Ted Noffey remains top choice

The build-up to Kentucky Derby 2026 continues Friday through Sunday with pool 3 of the Kentucky Derby Future Wager, featuring Breeders’ Cup Juvenile winner Ted Noffey as the 6-1 individual favorite and all other 3-year-olds not listed among the 39 individual interests as the overall 4-1 choice.

The three-day pools, featuring $2 win and exacta wagering, will open Friday at noon EST and close Sunday at 6 p.m.

Ted Noffey, who has yet to make a start since the Breeders' Cup, had a standout 2-year-old season where he was undefeated through four starts winning the Hopeful (G1), Breeders Futurity (G1) and Breeders’ Cup Juvenile. Trained by Todd Pletcher, Ted Noffey closed as the individual favorite in the first two pools at 10-1 and 7-1, respectively.

Pool 3 will coincide with Saturday’s Lecomte Stakes (G3) at Fair Grounds and will feature five contenders in the field: Chip Honcho, Crown the Buckeye, Mesquite, Thunder Buck and White Tiger

In last year’s third Kentucky Derby Future Wager Pool, eventual Kentucky Derby 151 winner Sovereignty closed at 21-1.

There are no refunds in the Kentucky Derby Future Wager. If Churchill Downs officials determine during the duration of this week’s pool that one of the wagering interests experiences an injury, illness or other circumstance that would prevent the horse from participating in the Kentucky Derby, betting on the individual horse will be suspended immediately.

Other future-wager dates are set for Feb. 13-15 for pool 4; March 13-15 for pool 5, and April 2-4 for pool 6. Pool 5 also will include the Kentucky Oaks Future Wager.
