Caddo River’s odds in Pool 2 of the Kentucky Derby Future Wager shortened when the colt won the Smarty Jones Stakes on Friday at Oaklawn Park for trainer Brad Cox. After opening at 30-1 on the morning line, Caddo River was trading at 12-1 as of 9:30 a.m. Eastern on Saturday.

The colt took in $4,583 in win wagers by Saturday morning.

No other horse in the pool saw their odds shorten after one day of betting. However, the overall pool favorite, as usual, is the all other 3-year-olds option, which was bet down to 4-5 from a 9-5 morning line through the first day. The field had attracted $32,470 in wagers.

For non-field options, the favorite is Life is Good moved only slightly, going from 6-1 to 7-1. The Into Mischief colt most recently won the Sham Stakes (G3) on Jan. 2 at Santa Anita for trainer Bob Baffert.

One horse that saw his odds lengthenwas Mandaloun. Trained by Brad Cox, Mandaloun was favored in the Lecomte Stakes (G3) at Fair Grounds last Saturday, but finished third between Midnight Bourbon and Proxy, who sit at 32-1 and 99-1 respectively.

Mandaloun moved from 50-1 to 99-1 through the first day of wagering.

The total win pool for Pool 2 is $77,324 as of 9:30 a.m. on Saturday.
