Kentucky Derby 2026 works: Obliteration leads tab

Obliteration drilled at Fair Grounds on Sunday ahead of his expected start in the Saudi Derby.

The son of Violence captured the Renaissance at Oaklawn Park last time out.

The 3-year-old colt breezed five furlongs in 1:01.8, sixth fastest of 23 at the distance. This marked his first timed work since his last race.

Obliteration won the Sanford (G3) at Saratoga on July 5. He placed fourth in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf Sprint (G1) at Del Mar on Oct. 31. He finished second in the Saratoga Special (G2) at Saratoga on Aug. 2. He has a career record of 7: 3-3-1 with earnings of $593,550 for owner Leland Ackerley Racing.

Obliteration was one of 8 horses with odds in Las Vegas + other HRN top contenders on Sunday.

A. P. Again (Honor A. P.) worked three furlongs in 36.2 seconds at Los Alamitos on Sunday morning. It was the second fastest of eight works at the distance. His previous work was seven days ago going five furlongs at Los Alamitos. In his last start he placed fourth in a starter allowance race going 5 1/2 furlongs on the main track at Del Mar on Nov. 28 for trainer Doug O'Neill.

Buetane (Tiz the Law) worked six furlongs in 1:11.8 at Santa Anita on Sunday morning. It was the fastest of three works at the distance. This was his first work since his last race. In his last start he placed second in the San Vicente (G2) going seven furlongs on the main track at Santa Anita on Jan. 10 for trainer Bob Baffert.

Civil Liberty (Independence Hall) worked four furlongs in 49.0 seconds at Santa Anita on Sunday morning. It was the 28th fastest of 57 works at the distance. His previous work was nine days ago going three furlongs at Santa Anita. In his last start he placed fourth in the American Pharoah (G1) going 1 1/16 miles on the main track at Santa Anita on Oct. 4 for trainer Doug O'Neill.

Kristofferson (Nyquist) worked six furlongs in 1:12.4 at Santa Anita on Sunday morning. It was the slowest of three works at the distance. His previous work was seven days ago going four furlongs at Santa Anita. In his last start he placed sixth in the American Pharoah (G1) going 1 1/16 miles on the main track at Santa Anita on Oct. 4 for trainer Bob Baffert.

Mob (Gun Runner) worked five furlongs in 1:02.7 at Palm Meadows on Sunday morning. It was the fifth fastest of 14 works at the distance. His previous work was 21 days ago going four furlongs at Palm Meadows. In his last start he won a maiden race going 6 1/2 furlongs on the main track at Churchill Downs on Nov. 23 for trainer Brian Lynch.

My World (Essential Quality) worked four furlongs in 50.8 seconds at Payson Park on Sunday morning. It was the 33rd fastest of 35 works at the distance. This was his first work since his last race. In his last start he won the Jerome going one mile on the main track at Aqueduct on Jan. 3 for trainer Brad Cox.

Obliteration (Violence), a Grade 3 winner (2025 Sanford), worked five furlongs in 1:01.8 at Fair Grounds on Sunday morning. It was the sixth fastest of 23 works at the distance. This was his first work since his last race. In his last start he won the Renaissance going six furlongs on the main track at Oaklawn on Jan. 3 for trainer Steve Asmussen.

Very Connected (Connect) worked four furlongs in 49.2 seconds at Fair Grounds on Sunday morning. It was the 23rd fastest of 92 works at the distance. His previous work was eight days ago going four furlongs at Fair Grounds. In his last start he placed fifth in the Gun Runner going 1 1/16 miles on the main track at Fair Grounds on Dec. 20 for trainer Kenny McPeek.
