Kentucky Derby 2026 works: Boyd leads hopefuls on tab

Boyd breezed five furlongs in 1:01.8 at Santa Anita Park on Thursday morning. It was the seventh fastest of 16 works at the distance.

The 3-year-old son of Violence is trained by Bob Baffert.

Boyd won the Ed Brown at Churchill Downs on Nov. 29. Before that, he won his debut at Del Mar on Sept. 7, posting a 92 Beyer Speed Figure, according to Daily Racing Form. He has a career record of 2: 2-0-0 with earnings of $186,500 for owner Zedan Racing Stables.

Boyd was one of eight horses with odds in Las Vegas + other HRN top contenders.

Attfield (Vekoma) worked four furlongs in 49.9 seconds at Belmont Park on Thursday morning. It was the 55th fastest of 82 works at the distance. This was his first work since his last race. In his last start he won the Central Park going 1 1/16 miles on the turf at Aqueduct on Nov. 7 for trainer Tom Morley.

His previous work was eight days ago going four furlongs at Palm Meadows. In his last start he won the Street Sense (G3) going 1 1/16 miles on the main track at Churchill Downs on Oct. 26 for trainer Riley Mott.

Napoleon Solo (Liam's Map), a Grade 1 winner (2025 Champagne), worked three furlongs in 36.4 seconds at Palm Meadows on Wednesday morning. It was the fastest of five works at the distance. This was his first work since his last race. In his last start he won the Champagne (G1) going one mile on the main track at Belmont at the Big A on Oct. 4 for trainer Chad Summers.

Rio Grande (Justify) worked five furlongs in 1:01.8 at Santa Anita on Thursday morning. It was the seventh fastest of 16 works at the distance. His previous work was seven days ago going four furlongs at Santa Anita. In his last start he placed eighth in a maiden race going one mile on the turf at Santa Anita on Dec. 29 for trainer Bob Baffert.

Stradale (Yaupon) worked four furlongs in 52.4 seconds at Fair Grounds on Thursday morning. It was the 42nd fastest of 45 works at the distance. His previous work was six days ago going four furlongs at Fair Grounds. In his last start he placed third in the Ed Brown going 6 1/2 furlongs on the main track at Churchill Downs on Nov. 29 for trainer Steve Asmussen.

Talk to Me Jimmy (Modernist) worked four furlongs in 47.8 seconds at Belmont Park on Wednesday morning. It was the seventh fastest of 66 works at the distance. His previous work was 33 days ago going four furlongs at Belmont Park. In his last start he won a maiden race going one mile on the main track at Aqueduct on Nov. 9 for trainer Rudy Rodriguez.

Throckmorton (Caracaro) worked three furlongs in 38.3 seconds on turf at Palm Meadows on Wednesday morning. It was the ninth fastest of 15 works at the distance. His previous work was 12 days ago going three furlongs at Palm Meadows. In his last start he won the Awad going six furlongs on the turf at Aqueduct on Nov. 9 for trainer Jose D'Angelo.
