Kentucky Derby 2026 futures: Boyd makes a splash

From 45-1 to 15-1 in a matter of weeks. That's the kind of odds movement that gets noticed in the Las Vegas futures market for Kentucky Derby 2026.

Boyd, a son of Violence trained by Bob Baffert, made that plunge on the strength of two impressive sprint victories. The $1.05 million purchase romped by 5 3/4 lengths in his Del Mar debut, then followed that with a win in the Ed Brown Stakes on Saturday at Churchill Downs. He has yet to be tested around two turns, but bettors are wagering on his potential.

Breeders' Cup Juvenile winner Ted Noffey remained the 7.5-1 favorite at Caesars Sportsbook on Monday morning. The undefeated colt, trained by Todd Pletcher, capped a 4-for-4 juvenile campaign with three straight Grade 1 wins in the Hopeful, Breeders' Futurity and Juvenile. The Into Mischief colt sits atop the road to the Kentucky Derby with 40 qualifying points.

Further Ado moved to second choice at 10-1 after his 1 3/4-length victory in the Kentucky Jockey Club (G2) on Saturday. The Gun Runner colt, also owned by Spendthrift Farm, followed his sensational 20-length maiden romp at Keeneland with the stakes score. Trainer Brad Cox now has a formidable contender for the May 2 classic.

The Caesars futures listed 91 horses Monday morning. Gun Runner and Into Mischief dominate the sire representation among top contenders, continuing their emergence as the sport's most prolific stallions.

Baffert has 11 horses on the board: Boyd, Brant (22-1), Litmus Test (35-1), Buetane (35-1), Desert Gate (40-1), Provenance (40-1), Plutarch (50-1), Blacksmith (55-1), Cherokee Nation (60-1), Falcon Jet (60-1) and Kristofferson (60-1). The Hall of Fame trainer, seeking a record seventh Kentucky Derby victory, will have plenty of options as the prep season unfolds.

Among other notable odds movements, Courting shortened from 33-1 to 18-1, Paladin went from 40-1 to 18-1, and Incredibolt tightened from 40-1 to 20-1. Universe made the biggest move among long shots, plummeting from 75-1 to 40-1.

Several horses drifted in the market. It's Our Time went from 33-1 to 90-1 after failing to build on his early promise. Final Score moved from 25-1 to 30-1, and Spice Runner drifted from 40-1 to 60-1 after a disappointing effort in the Kentucky Jockey Club.

New entrants to the futures include Local Knowledge (40-1), Mob (55-1), Cherokee Nation (60-1), Liberty National (65-1), Boss Dylan (66-1), Stop the Car (66-1), Time for Music (75-1), Stirring Words (75-1) and Gallivant (100-1). Seven horses were removed from the board: Diciassette, Acknowledgemplz, Froutien, Taqermeen, Throckmorton, Lennox the Grey and Turf Star.

The Caesars Sportsbook futures are available in Nevada either in person or on an app. They also may be played legally from out of state using an existing account through a licensed proxy.
