Kentucky Derby 2026: Plutarch leads 2-year-old on tab
Plutarch breezed four furlongs in 50.0 at Santa Anita Park on Saturday morning. It was the 15th fastest of 17 works at the distance. This marked his first timed work since his last race.
The 2-year-old son of Into Mischief is trained by Bob Baffert.
Plutarch won a maiden special weight at Del Mar on Nov. 30, posting a 78 Beyer Speed Figure, according to Daily Racing Form. Before that, he placed third in the American Pharoah (G1) at Santa Anita on Oct. 4. He has a career record of 5: 1-2-2 with earnings of $132,000.
Plutarch was one of 14 horses with odds in Las Vegas and other Horse Racing Nation top contenders with published works on Saturday.
