Kentucky Derby 2025: Rain chances increase for Saturday

Three days out from Kentucky Derby 2025, chances of rain are increasing for Saturday at Churchill Downs.

As of Wednesday afternoon, the National Weather Service forecast called for a chance of showers and thunderstorms before 8 a.m. EDT in Louisville on Kentucky Derby day, then a chance of showers between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m., with thunderstorms also possible after 2 p.m. EDT. There's a 50% chance of precipitation. Otherwise, it's expected to be partly sunny, with a hear near 69 degrees. A 40% chance of rain continues into Saturday night, when the low is expected to be about 47 degrees.

The forecast got soggier for the rest of Derby week too.

On Kentucky Oaks day Friday, there's a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms  before 2 p.m., then showers are likely and possibly a thunderstorm after 2 p.m. It will be partly sunny with a high near 76, and the chance of rain is 60%. Precipitation chances remain 60% overnight, with a low around 56.

Thursday's forecast called for an 80% chance of showers and a high near 83.
