Kentucky Derby 2024 rankings: More shakeup in top 50

With the Lecomte Stakes in the books and an impressive maiden winner on the same card, there were plenty of additions and subtractions from Horse Racing Nation's Kentucky Derby 2024 top 50 list.

From the Lecomte Stakes win, Track Phantom moved up from 17th to sixth, and second place Nash dropped way down from no. 5, where he might have been ranked too highly, to no. 41. Ethan Energy went from no. 29 to off the list. On the same card, and like Track Phantom also trained by Steve Asmussen, impressive maiden winner Hall of Fame debuted on the top 50 list all the way at no. 8.

Another new addition to the list is Maymun (no. 28), the debut winner this weekend for trainer Bob Baffert, although the Frosted colt would have to be transferred to another trainer at the end of this month to be eligible for the Derby.

One other deletion from the list is Drum Roll Please, who was injured and is off the Derby trail.

Southwest. Carbone (10), Otto the Conquerer (17), Lightline (37), Just Steel (40).

Holy Bull. Fierceness (1), Generous Tipper (18), Deterministic (27) and The Wine Steward (43).
