The field for the run for the roses was drawn Saturday evening at Churchill Downs.

Kentucky Derby guide: Odds, analysis and PPs

Eclipse Award winner Fierceness, who ran off to a 13 1/2-length win last month in the Grade 1 Florida Derby, drew post 17 and was made the 5-2 morning-line favorite.

Sierra Leone, the deep closer who won the Blue Grass Stakes (G1), drew post 2 and was the second choice at 3-1.

The third choice is Catching Freedom, one of three entries for trainer Brad Cox. In his last start he rallied to win the Louisiana Derby (G2).

The Kentucky Derby is race 12 of 14 on Saturday's card, with a post time of 6:57 p.m. EDT. A full field of 20 was drawn, plus two also-eligibles. Epic Ride drew in with the Tuesday scratch of Encino, though Mugatu did not get a second defection and had to scratch as well.
