Kentucky Derby 2022: Early morning-line odds
The 2022 Kentucky Derby will be run in three weeks on the first Saturday in May, so the Horse Racing Nation staff has put together an early look at the morning line for the probable field.
It should come as no surprise that the winners of three of the 100-point Derby qualifying races were assigned the shortest odds in this preliminary version of the morning line.
Epicenter was named the favorite based on his domination of the Derby trail races at the Fair Grounds. When Zandon roared down the stretch in the recent Blue Grass Stakes (G1) and passed Smile Happy, he became one of the top choices also. Taiba’s surprise victory in the Santa Anita Derby (G1) moved him ahead of his stablemate Messier.
This early Kentucky Derby morning line includes the most current list of 22 horses from which the field is likely to come, so the total points of the line are not in final form.
