Kentucky Derby 2020 rankings: Dennis' Moment back on track

Dennis' Moment, who continues to lead Horse Racing Nation's user-generated 2020 Kentucky Derby contender rankings, is done sitting on the sidelines.

Jason Loutsch, racing manager for owner Albaugh Family Stables, tweeted a photo of the Tiznow colt upon his arrival to trainer Dale Romans' barn at Gulfstream Park, where he's expected to continue prepping for the Derby in the Feb. 29 Fountain of Youth (G1).

That's good news for the HRN users who continue to rate Dennis' Moment highly enough to sit at No. 1 on a list of all 2-year-olds, despite his stumble from the gate as the Breeders' Cup Juvenile last time. Of course, Dennis' Moment also has to his name a romping maiden victory at Ellis Park and a points-paying Derby prep win in Churchill Downs' Iroquois (G3).

Following his winter respite, Dennis' Moment is expected to run twice before the first Saturday in May. Victories in both starts could have him headed back to Churchill as the Derby favorite.

Allowance winner Three Technique, Breeders' Futurity (G1) hero Maxfield, Tiz the Law and Independence Hall round out the latest Top 5, which is capable of changing on the hour. Sign up for a free Horse Racing Nation account to begin rating horses and influencing the rankings today.

The biggest mover of the week was Shotski, who cracked the Top 15 more than a week after a victory in Aqueduct's Remsen Stakes (G3). He's possible to resurface next month in Fair Grounds' Lecomte (G3), at which point the Jeremiah O'Dwyer trainee will be eligible to continue climbing the ladder.

Likewise, Shoplifted appears eligible for a move up in the rankings. Sunday's Springboard Mile winner checks in at No. 53 on the list but should continue rising for trainer Steve Asmussen, who saw the Saratoga maiden winner rebound from a pair of west coast defeats in Oklahoma City.
