Kentucky Derby 2020: Latest field and odds
UPDATE: Rushie became the latest horse to drop out of contention for the 2020 Kentucky Derby contention, with connections deciding on Sunday to point him instead to the Grade 2 Pat Day Mile on the Derby undercard.
After all the ins and outs of the last few days, it now looks as though 17 horses will start in the race at Churchill Downs on Saturday.
On Saturday, trainer Todd Pletcher added Money Moves to the list of Derby probables. The son of Candy Ride is coming off a second-place finish in a 1 1/8-mile allowance race at Saratoga on July 25, and he also has scores in a 1-mile March allowance and a maiden win on Feb. 15. It might be the first time a horse is making his stakes debut in the Run for the Roses, although we have yet to confirm that.
The Pletcher-trained Dr Post, meanwhile, will skip the Derby and run instead in the Grade 2 Jim Dandy at Saratoga.

Shirl’s Speight also is out of contention for the Derby after developing a cough. Trainer Roger Attfield said Saturday that it doesn’t appear to be anything serious. The promising colt was two-for-two in his only starts, both at Woodbine this year.
On Friday, Caracaro was ruled out of the Derby after injuring his right front leg during the gallop out of a six-furlong breeze at Saratoga. Assistant trainer Gustavo Delgado Jr. said at the time that no determination had been made about the severity of the injury.
The post position draw is for the Kentucky Derby is Tuesday at 11 a.m. Tiz the Law is the early favorite, with HRN morning-line odds of 7-5. He’s followed by Art Collector at 5-1 and Honor A. P. At 6-1.
Churchill Downs morning line writer Mike Battaglia gave Horse Racing Nation an early glimpse at the Kentucky Derby morning line and said that Tiz the Law “is going to be even money. He could be 6-5, maybe. And he might be shorter.”
