Kentucky Derby 2018 odds: Magnum Moon joins favorites

Magnum Moon earned his spot in the 2018 Kentucky Derby on Saturday, and the latest Las Vegas odds confirmed him as a top contender heading into the first Saturday in May.

Following the Todd Pletcher trainee’s 3 1/2-length Rebel Stakes victory, the Wynn Las Vegas dropped Magnum Moon from 20-1 to a 10-1 third choice.

Only McKinzie (7-1) and Bolt d’Oro (8-1) — the West Coast stars who ran 1-2 in last weekend’s San Felipe Stakes — are offered at a lower price.

Other favorites include Good Magic (11-1), Justify (12-1) and Solomini (12-1). The latter, also offered at 20-1 entering the weekend, ran second to end a layoff in the Rebel.

Next on the list is Audible at 15-1.

Five of the Top 7 Las Vegas choices are trained by Baffert (McKinzie, Justify, Solomini) or Pletcher (Magnum Moon, Audible). Neither Magnum Moon nor Justify raced at age 2 but have burst on the Kentucky Derby scene late. They could clash in the Grade 1 Arkansas Derby on April 14 at Oaklawn Park.
