Kentucky Derby 2018 odds: Justify's favoritism growing

As the list of potential 2018 Kentucky Derby contenders shrinks, so do the odds. And here we are, now nine days out from the May 5 race at Churchill Downs, with a clear favorite.

Unbeaten Bob Baffert trainee Justify's price dropped to 3-1 in the latest prices distributed Thursday by the Wynn Las Vegas, with those odds a reflection both of the Santa Anita Derby winner's chances of winning and money taken by the racebook.

Expect something similar when Churchill Downs odds maker Mike Battaglia reads off the morning line at Tuesday's post position draw.

Behind Justify remains Good Magic, the champion 2-year-old, at 5-1. He's unlikely to land as the second morning line choice, with Battaglia suggesting that should go to either Arkansas Derby winner Magnum Moon or Mendelssohn, who impressively won the UAE Derby last out. Both of those colts are 6-1 at the Wynn.

Other top choices include Bolt d'Oro (8-1), Audible (9-1) and Vino Rosso (14-1) before the longshot prices begin. Particularly enticing, if you like him as a win contender, is the major prep race winner with the longest odds, Louisiana Derby victor Noble Indy at 28-1.

The Wynn on Thursday also updated its prices on odds for horses to sweep the Triple Crown, as well as a handful of head-to-head prop bets available for individual Derby horses. Find the option to view in full screen at the bottom right of the window below.
