Kentucky Derby 2018 odds: Instilled Regard back on board
Instilled Regard hasn’t yet returned to the official 2018 Kentucky Derby points leaderboard, but the Wynn Las Vegas is taking bets on him following news from the Daily Racing Form that trainer Jerry Hollendorfer is open to running the graded stakes winner at Churchill Downs.
The Wynn lists Instilled Regard at 35-1, far from the longest shot of 28 horses available for wagering at the racebook.
As for potentially going to the Derby, Hollendorfer told the Daily Racing Form, “We’d have to think about it. We’re trying to make a plan.” He called the son of Arch “good and fit” and said a five-furlong workout is scheduled for this weekend.
Fourth last out in the Santa Anita Derby, Instilled Regard will be the second horse out of the field in points following Combatant, who was fourth in the Arkansas Derby, but just a head behind third. Snapper Sinclair and Blended Citizen then follow.
This year’s Derby post position draw is Tuesday, May 1, before which as many as 24 horses can be entered with four also-eligible.
As far as the Wynn’s top choices, nothing has changed leaving last weekend’s final prep races. Justify is 5-2, Magnum Moon 5-1 and Good Magic and Mendelssohn co-third choices at 7-1.
Additionally, the Wynn is offering Justify at 8-1 odds to sweep the Triple Crown, with Preakness and Belmont Stakes following the Kentucky Derby.

Editor's note: This story has been updated to indicate Instilled Regard finished fourth, not third, in the Santa Anita Derby.
