Kentucky Derby 2012 Contenders - Gemologist makes the grade

The road to Kentucky Derby 2012 was in full swing last weekend with a pair of graded routes. Super Saver won the Grade 2 Kentucky Jockey Club Stakes at Churchill Downs before capturing the run for the roses the next season, and WinStar Farm/Todd Pletcher hope that lightning strikes twice with Gemologist.

The undefeated son of Tiznow tagged inexperienced early runner Ever So Lucky to capture the G2 Kentucky Jockey Club Stakes by 1-3/4 lengths with Timely Tally rallying to finish an unlucky 3rd. The BSF came back a respectable 85 and the top three all have a case of Derby fever.
