Brereton C. Jones’s Keep Crossing stormed down the center of the track to post a three-length score in the $70,000 Red Cross Stakes at Monmouth Park on Saturday afternoon.

Trained by J. Larry Jones, Keep Crossing covered the six furlongs over a fast main track in 1:10 flat and returned $11, $5.60 and $4.20.  Disco Chick completed the $206.60 exacta and paid $16 and $8.  It was a head back to the hard-charging Tea Time, who paid $3.40 to show.

“The race played out completely different than expected,” said winning jockey Gabriel Saez.  “They were flying up front and we were sitting perfectly on the backstretch.  She had a lot left at the quarter pole and we had a clear path on the outside.  It gave us the perfect trip and she answered the call nicely.”

A 4-year-old filly by Istan from the Langfuhr mare Saramar, Keep Crossing sports a record of 4-2-2 from 11 career starts, good for earnings of $145,120.

Live racing continues at Monmouth Park on Saturday, June 20 – gates open 11:30 a.m., first post 12:50 p.m.
