Keeneland Will Honor Hall of Fame Jockeys Friday
On Friday, Keeneland will honor one of the largest contingents of Racing Hall of Fame jockeys ever assembled. Fans are invited to help celebrate these riding legends during a day filled with recognition, highlighted by an autograph signing from 2-3 p.m. ET on the North Terrace.
Among the jockeys scheduled to appear are Keeneland’s all-time leading rider, Pat Day, winner of the 1992 Kentucky Derby (G1) with Lil E. Tee; 1978 Triple Crown winner Steve Cauthen; Don Brumfield, who holds 16 Keeneland riding titles and won the 1966 Kentucky Derby and Preakness with Kauai King; three-time Derby winner Gary Stevens (Winning Colors in 1988, Thunder Gulch in 1995, Silver Charm in 1997); three-time Derby winner and recently retired Calvin Borel (Street Sense in 2007, Mine That Bird in 2009, Super Saver in 2010); two-time Derby winner Chris McCarron, (Go For Gin in 1994, Alysheba in 1987); two-time Derby winner Jacinto Vasquez (Foolish Pleasure in 1975, Genuine Risk in 1980); Laffit Pincay Jr., who rode Derby winner Swale in 1984; and Randy Romero, one of only three jockeys to win six races in one day at Keeneland.
Riders will talk about their accomplished careers during a Q&A session in the Keeneland Walking Ring that begins at 12:05 p.m.
Fans can meet the jockeys during an autograph signing from 2-3 p.m. in the North Terrace.
Jockeys will sign a commemorative poster featuring works by renowned racing artist Peb that can be acquired with a suggested donation of $15 per poster. Proceeds from the signing will benefit the National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame in Saratoga Springs, N.Y., and the Permanently Disabled Jockeys Fund.
Fans who download the Keeneland Race Day app in the days leading up to Friday’s Hall of Fame Jockey Day can access a secret link to enter to win a commemorative Arthur Court julep cup.

Joe Ragsdale’s Marquee Miss, training toward a possible start in the Kentucky Oaks (G1), worked five furlongs in 1:02.40 after the break for trainer Ingrid Mason. With Channing Hill aboard, Marquee Miss clocked fractions of :11.80, :24.40, :36.80, 1:02.40 and out six furlongs in 1:16.80. …
Richard Hogan and Dan Gale’s Transylvania (G3) winner Shakhimat worked five furlongs in 1:00. Shakimat is nominated to the $300,000 American Turf (G2) at Churchill Downs on May 7.

At Wagering Central, contestants can sign up to play for a $10 entry fee, then make a mythical $2 win and place wager on Keeneland races 3 through 8. The contest offers a guaranteed $2,500 pool, and the first 200 participants receive a free Daily Racing Form and a card for a free appetizer at Malone’s.
The Keeneland Shop presents a book signing with Barry Irwin, author of Derby Innovator: The Making of Animal Kingdom, from 11 a.m.-4 p.m.

Craft Beer Tent. The special selection of beers on the North Terrace will include Blue Stallion, Country Boy, Fat Tire, Kentucky Ale Race Day IPA, Land Shark, Shock Top, Sierra Nevada and Woodchuck Hard Cider.
Tailgating on The Hill. Keeneland’s hugely popular tailgate lot, The Hill, located adjacent to the Keene Barn & Entertainment Center, will feature local food trucks, a jumbo television screen, wireless wagering and wagering terminals, race-day programs, a Keeneland Shop kiosk and free shuttles to the track.
Friday Pick 4 Presented by TVG. A $200,000-guaranteed pool will be offered on the final four races of the day.
Sunrise Trackside. Itching to experience the sights and sounds of Keeneland in the morning? Sunrise Trackside, sponsored by LEX18 and Dunkin’ Donuts, offers activities for all ages beginning at 7 a.m. Fans can enjoy Breakfast With the Works, a Southern-style breakfast and trackside commentary while horses train on the main track (until 8:30 a.m.); children’s activities in the Kids Club Corner (7-9 a.m.); Keeneland tours (8-10:30 a.m.); Paddock demonstration with the Kentucky Horseshoeing School (9 a.m.); a trackside handicapping seminar (11:30 a.m.); and a Q&A session with a Keeneland jockey in the Paddock (12:05 p.m.).

Military Day at the Races Presented by Marathon. Keeneland recognizes the men and women who serve our country. All active and inactive members of the military and their families receive free
general admission with a military ID. A Family Zone in the North Terrace from noon to 4 p.m. will feature free food, music and children’s activities.
