Keeneland Sales Grads Dominate Oaks Entries
Keeneland sales graduates represent 11 of the 15 fillies entered today in Friday’s 141st running of the $1 million Longines Kentucky Oaks (G1) at Churchill Downs. The Kentucky Oaks is a 1 1/8-mile race for 3-year-old fillies.
Since 1994, Keeneland sales have produced 10 Kentucky Oaks winners. They include Racing Hall of Famer Ashado and Belmont (G1) winner Rags to Riches.
The Keeneland sales graduates entered in this year’s race, limited to 14 horses, are:
Birdatthewire (Summer Bird-My Limit) – Lynn Jones and Kathy Jones bred the winner of the Forward Gal (G2) and Gulfstream Park Oaks (G2), offered by Pauls Mill, agent, at Keeneland’s 2013 January Mixed Sale. Dale Romans trains the filly for owner Forum Racing.
Condo Commando (Tiz Wonderful-Yearly Report) – Kim Valerio and Michael Dubb paid $72,000 for the winner of the Spinaway (G1), Demoiselle (G2) and Gazelle (G2) from the consignment of Bedoin Bloodstock, agent for breeder Spendthrift Farm, at Keeneland’s 2013 September Yearling Sale. Dubb and partners Bethlehem Stables and The Elkstone Group own the filly, trained by Rudy Rodriguez.
Eskenformoney (Eskendereya-But for Money) – StarLadies Racing owns the filly, purchased by Frank Brothers, agent for Starlight, for $225,000 at the 2013 September Sale. Bred by Ramspring Farm, she was consigned by Taylor Made Sales Agency, agent. Todd Pletcher is her trainer.
I’m a Chatterbox (Munnings-Chit Chatter) – Owners Fletcher and Carolyn Gray bred the Fair Grounds Oaks (G2) and Rachel Alexandria (G3) winner, which their Grayson Farm offered for sale at the 2013 September Sale. Larry Jones trains the filly.
Include Betty (Include-Betty’s Solutions) – The Fantasy (G3) winner was sold to Cromwell Bloodstock for $42,000 at the 2013 September Sale. She was consigned by former Kentucky Gov. Brereton C. Jones, who bred her in partnership with Lavin Bloodstock and races her with Timothy C. Thornton. The filly is trained by Tom Proctor.

Money’soncharlotte (Mizzen Mast-Something Wicked) – At the 2013 September Sale, owners George and Lori Hall paid $135,000 for the filly, consigned by Lane’s End, agent. She also was sold for $72,000 to Merel and Darryl Dixion at the 2012 November Sale, where she was consigned by Eaton Sales, agent. Kelly Breen trains Money’soncharlotte, bred by Dr. Oscar Benavides.
Oceanwave (Harlan’s Holiday-Tamboz) – Gary and Mary West own the graduate of two Keeneland sales. Elm Tree Farm, agent, consigned the filly to the 2013 January Sale, where she was purchased for $40,000 by W.C.S. Bloodstock. Lane’s End, agent, consigned her to the 2013 September Sale, where the Wests’ bloodstock agent, Ben Glass, purchased her for $120,000. Oceanwave is trained by Wayne Catalano.
Puca (Big Brown-Boat’s Ghost) – Jerry Crawford, agent for owner Donegal Racing, paid $90,000 for the filly at the 2013 September Sale, where she was consigned by Hidden Brook, agent. Crawford and Paul Pompa Jr. bred the filly, trained by Bill Mott.
Sarah Sis (Sharp Humor-Emerald Gal) – Bluewater Sales, agent, consigned the Honeybee (G3) winner to the 2013 September Sale, where Luis Chonqui bought her for $10,000. Joe Ragsdale owns and Ingrid Mason trains the filly, bred by Catherine Rene White.
Also-eligible: Peace and War (War Front-More Oats Please) – Kaizen Sales, agent, consigned the winner of Keeneland’s Darley Alcibiades (G1) to the 2013 September Sale, where David Redvers Bloodstock purchased her for $300,000. Sally J. Andersen bred the filly, trained by Olly Stevens for owner Qatar Racing.
