Keeneland Pick 5 pays a record $308,872 after string of upsets

A slew of upsets in the late Pick 5 at Keeneland on Saturday resulted in a big payoff for one lucky player, with a single ticket paying a record $308,872.

The previous Pick 5 record payout at Keeneland was $266,430 paid on Oct. 11, 2012.

Saturday's winning Pick 5 ticket for races 6-10 was sold through NYRA Bets and cost $96. The combinations on the ticket were 2,4/3,8,10/1,4,5,6/2,3/1,5,10,11.

Beginning with race 6, the winners were Extra Medium ($25.40), Wayne O ($12), Tough Irma ($38.40), Bell’s the One ($28.60) and Star of Kodiak ($49.20).

Racing at Keeneland continues Sunday with a nine-race program beginning at 1:05 p.m. ET and highlighted by the 28th running of the $125,000 Rood & Riddle Dowager (G3) for fillies and mares going 1½ miles on the grass. The Rood & Riddle Dowager will go as the afternoon’s eighth race with a 4:57 post time.

Keeneland will offer a Pick 6 carryover of $31,365 on Sunday.
