After Sunday’s fourth race, Keeneland President and CEO Bill Thomason presented a check for $4,120 to the Permanently Disabled Jockeys Fund (PDJF) in the Winner’s Circle. Thomason was joined by members of the Keeneland jockey colony, including PDJF Vice President Jon Court.
The PDJF is a 501(c)(3) public charity that provides financial assistance to some 60 jockeys who have suffered catastrophic on-track injuries. Since its founding in 2006, the fund has disbursed more than $5 million to permanently disabled jockeys.
Before today’s races, active and retired jockeys participated in a fund-raising autograph session near the Paddock.
