Keeneland: Final Score is favored in Sunday’s Bourbon

Final Score tries to parlay his Grade 3 win last month into a victory Sunday in the Grade 2, $400,000 Bourbon Stakes, a 1 1/16-mile turf race for a dozen 2-year-olds at Keeneland.
The Bourbon winner will get an automatic invitation to the one-mile Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf on Oct. 31 at Del Mar.

Mike Repole paid $600,000 last year for Final Score, who won by 4 1/2 lengths Aug. 28 in the With Anticipation (G3) at Saratoga. The Not This Time colt trained by Todd Pletcher was a second-place debutant in an off-the-turf sprint in July at the Spa. That was where he broke his maiden Aug. 10. Both of Final Score’s wins have come in 1 1/16-mile turf races.
The 8-5 favorite on the morning line, Final Score will be ridden from post 6 by Irad Ortiz Jr.
Maiden winners Exonerate (9-2) and Vintur (6-1) and stakes victor Casa Cielo (8-1) also are in the field.
The Bourbon is the 5:48 p.m. EDT finale on Sunday’s 10-race card at Keeneland, where the first post is at 1 p.m.
