Keeneland Day 5: Prices stay strong, two sell for $1.3 million

Thursday was another exceptional day for breeders and consignors with
yearlings in book two of the Keeneland September yearling sale in
Lexington, Ky. Bolstered by a broad cross-section of domestic and
international buyers, the day saw enormous increases in all economic
indicators and was highlighted by a pair of seven-figure purchases.
Gross receipts soared by 46.5% from the corresponding day in 2010, the
average jumped by 38.1, and median increased by 30% from day five of the
2010 sale. The percentage of horses bought back by consignors was just
25.9%.
