Kathmanblu Sharp in Jessamine

Kathmanblu showed a powerful turn of foot and engulfed the competition in the stretch to capture the $150,000 JPMorgan Chase Jessamine Stakes on Thursday at Keeneland Race Course.

The victory in the 1 1/16-mile turf test was the first career stakes triumph for the bay Bluegrass Cat filly, who earned a guaranteed spot in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf (G2) on November 5 at Churchill Downs as part of the Breeders’ Cup Challenge “Win and You’re In” series.

Trained by Ken McPeek for Five D Thoroughbreds and Wind River Stables, Kathmanblu won a one-mile maiden special weight race on July 17 at Ellis Park and then finished second in the P. G. Johnson Stakes on September 1 at Saratoga Race Course in her previous outing.
