Karmageddon Wins Monmouth Feature

Headless Horseman Racing’s Karmageddon spurned a challenge by the favorite entering the stretch and drew off at will to a four and a half-length victory in the $82,000 allowance feature at Monmouth Park on Friday.

The winner, trained by Doug Nunn and ridden by Chuck C. Lopez, raced the six furlongs over a fast main track in 1:10 1/5, paid $7, $3.80 and $3 across the board, and topped a $24 exacta as the second choice in a field of 10 New Jersey-bred fillies and mares.

Pascal’s Paradox, the 7-5 choice who challenged Karmageddon on the turn only to be turned back, held second by three lengths over Lil Kiara, and paid $2.80 and $2.60. Lil Kiara returned $4.40 to show.

This was the third career victory in five starts for Karmageddon, a 3-year-old daughter of Wildcat Heir * Kismet, by Kissin Kris, who won the New Jersey Juvenile Stakes at the Meadowlands last year. Chuck Lopez was aboard for that score, and has ridden the filly in all her three career wins.
