Report: Justify switching silks for Triple Crown try in Belmont 2018

Should Justify capture the Triple Crown June 9 in the 2018 Belmont Stakes, the win photo will appear distinctly different than his last three.

According to The Thoroughbred Daily News, Justify's rider, Mike Smith, is scheduled to wear the colors of China Horse Club, a co-owner of the colt along with WinStar Farm, Head of Plains Partners and Starlight Racing.

China Horse Club silks feature a bright red color with yellow stars, as opposed to WinStar's mainly white silks with a green and black logo.

Eden Harrington, Vice President of China Horse Club, told The TDN that, "The China Horse Club and WinStar Farm share the use of colors on the horses we race in partnership. Every fourth start, a horse will race in China Horse Club silks. The sharing of silks ensures both the WinStar brand and China Horse Club brand are promoted."

"Regardless of the colors that are worn on our horses, we all cheer passionately. We all cheer as one."

Smith also wore the China Horse Club silks in Justify's second start on March 11, a one-mile allowance score at Santa Anita Park.

Harrington added to The TDN that "for all the Chinese fans who are new to horse racing, seeing the colors of Chinese owners on Justify on the biggest of stages this year carries immense resonance."
