Miguel Vasquez guided K B Biorhythms to a dominating 9 ½-length triumph in Saturday’s first race at Gulfstream Park to register his first winning ride in the U.S.

The 20-year-old native of Panama had ridden for two years in his homeland after graduating from the Laffit Pincay Jr. jockey school. Vasquez estimated that he rode more than 200 winners in Panama.

“I feel very blessed to win my first race here,” said Vasquez through interpreter/agent Isaac Jimenez.

Vasquez picked up the mount aboard favored K B Biorhythms ($5.40) Saturday morning.
