Jockey Pedro Solano was taken to Monmouth Medical Center in Long Branch after being unseated by his mount Love Scat during the running of the second race at Monmouth Park on Friday.
“He has a possible broken left elbow,” said Dr. Angelo Chinnici, medical director for the racetrack. “To determine the extent of the injury, I sent him for further evaluation and X-rays.”
The 28-year-old Solano was between horses going into the turn of the five furlong turf race when the jockey was unseated. No other riders or horses were injured during the incident.
