Jockey Pleads Not Guilty in Race-Fixing Case

Florida jockey Ricardo Alfredo Valdes has pleaded not guilty to race-fixing charges in U.S. District Court in Detroit.

Federal officials say Valdes and two Michigan men fixed Thoroughbred races in Florida, Delaware, and Michigan. The Detroit-area men also face charges in an alleged point-shaving scheme involving the University of Toledo.
