Jose Ortiz "checked out good" Sunday afternoon after having his ankle examined at a hospital following a fall at Belmont Park, agent Jimmy Ricco told Horse Racing Nation. Riccio said his client will not miss any time.

The jockey Ortiz was aboard mount Happy Happy B in the $150,000 Bertram F. Bongard, a seven-furlong sprint for New York-bred juveniles.

Per the chart notes, Happy Happy B “was closing in belatedly when suffering an injury seventy yards from home to the right front, fell heavily in the shadow of the wire tossing the rider from the saddle and was euthanized on the track.” Ortiz was off his remaining mounts on the card.

Robertino Diodoro trained Happy Happy B, an Honor Code colt co-owned by Cypress Creek Equine and Arnold Bennewith.

Shipsational, with jockey Luis Saez up, won the Bertram F. Bongard for trainer Edward Barker. Senbei was second, followed by Surprise Boss.
