Jockey Joe Bravo took a day off Sunday after a spill at Santa Anita on Saturday sent him to the hospital.

Bravo was aboard Decorated My Life in the Sweet Life Stakes, a downhill turf race, when she was injured while crossing the dirt track. The 51-year-old jockey was taken to a hospital for observation after he complained of lower back pain, FanDuel TV reported Saturday.

Neither Bravo nor his agent, Matt Nakatani, could be reached for comment. But in a Sunday afternoon Twitter post, Nakatani said that Bravo was taking the day off. "Everything is okay, just precautionary. He will be back up next week!"

Decorated My Life, a 3-year-old filly trained by Simon Callaghan, was vanned off the track and later euthanized. This was her only start this year.

Bravo had been slated to ride Ag Bullet in the Lady of Shamrock Stakes at Santa Anita on Sunday for trainer George Papaprodromou. He has a record of 51: 8-4-8 in the current Santa Anita meet, ranking him at No. 9 in the standings.
