Jockey Hollie Doyle is injured in England spill
British jockey Hollie Doyle was injured in a spill at Wolverhampton, England, on Monday and will be sidelined for the rest of the month.
Racing Post reported that Doyle, a six-time Group 1 winner, was thrown when her mount, The Perfect Crown, broke down in a seven-furlong race on the synthetic track.
"I went over the horse's head when he broke both front legs, which was a freak accident," Doyle told Racing Post.
The 6-year-old gelding, trained by Archie Watson, was fatally injured, according to the report.
Doyle fractured her elbow and ruptured ligaments during the fall. She walked to an ambulance and into the weighing room but missed her remaining two mounts for the day, according to the report.
She also missed four mounts Tuesday at Kempton and was booked to ride later this week at Kempton, Newcastle and Wolverhamption.
Doyle was X-rayed at a hospital and has begun physical therapy, according to the report.
Doyle rode in four Breeders' Cup races last year at Keeneland. Her best finisher was Nashwa, who was fourth in the Filly & Mare Turf.
