Jeremy Rose earns 2,000th victory

Jeremy Rose rode his 2,000th winner at Gulfstream Park on Thursday aboard Cherokee Queen in the third race.
Born in Bellafonte, Pennsylvania, Rose got into horse racing at 20-years-old and is most known for riding Afleet Alex to victories in the 2005 Preakness and Belmont Stakes.
“This means a lot to me,” said Rose. “Riding with the big jockeys down here, it’s big for me.”
Rose, born in 1979, thanked a variety people following his win, including Tim Ritchey, the trainer of Afleet Alex. Now the rider is setting his sights on 3,000 and beyond.
“I want to still win the Kentucky Derby or a Breeders’ Cup race,” said Rose.
