Jaime Rodriguez Injured at Aqueduct

Jockey Jaime Rodriguez sustained a fractured clavicle after being unseated at the start of Friday’s fourth race at Aqueduct Racetrack. He will be sidelined for an undetermined period of time.

Rodriguez, a 19-year-old Puerto Rican apprentice jockey, was injured when his mount, Giopi, stumbled at the start of the race.

The jockey got up immediately, walked to the ambulance, and was taken to Jamaica Hospital, where the fracture was diagnosed.

Rodriguez has won 11 races from 120 mounts at Aqueduct this year.

Giopi, a 3-year-old gelding trained by Brad Baker, was not injured in the incident.
