Jackie's Warrior, Cazadero work toward 3-year-old debuts

Many viewed Cazadero as the early favorite for the 2020 Breeders' Cup Juvenile following his impressive victory in the Bashford Manor (G3). That quickly changed when his stablemate Jackie's Warrior dusted him in the Saratoga Special (G2). Cazadero would not race in the rest of 2020 after his fifth-place finish in August.

Jackie's Warrior would go on to be the heavy favorite for the Juvenile after wins in the Grade 1 Champagne and Hopeful, but he could only manage a fourth-place finish.

Steve Asmussen's duo will now look to regroup and put their disappointing last efforts behind them as newly turned 3-year-olds.

They both had their first works of the new year on Tuesday morning at Fair Grounds for the Hall of Fame trainer.

Jackie's Warrior worked four-furlongs in 51.00 and Cazadero drilled five-furlongs in 1:00.80.
