J J's Indy Wires Oklahoma Classic

J J's Indy led from start to finish to upset 3-5 favorite Pleasant Storm in the $167,375 Oklahoma Classics on the Oct. 22 night card at Remington Park in Oklahoma.

With jockey Dale Cordova aboard in the 1 1/16-mile race contested over a sloppy track that had been sealed, J J’s Indy established a comfortable pace, getting the first quarter-mile in :24.40 and a half-mile in :48.75 before making his six-furlong split in 1:13.01. Although 3-year-old Pleasant Storm made up ground from mid-pack in the stretch, J J’s Indy went on to win by 1 1/2 lengths in final time of 1:44.57. Motion Approved was 4 3/4 lengths back in third, while Some Quick was along for fourth.

"I knew turning for home, he still had something left," said Cordova. "This horse always makes my meet. He’s my favorite horse."

A 4-year-old Oklahoma-bred gelded son of Indy Talent, J J’s Indy is trained by Brent Charlton for owner Marvin Wooldridge of Oklahoma City.
