J J The Jet Plane overcame an extremely troubled path to land the Group 2 Al Quoz Sprint, the opening race of the Dubai World Cup meeting, in a thrilling four-way finish.
Getting blocked in his run on multiple occasions, jockey Bernard Fayd'herbe found several dead ends before finally getting a gap inside the last furlong and rallying to get up close home.
The race was run in poor visibility with a fog hanging over the course. Trainer Lucky Houdalakis said: "The first I saw of him he was going sideways and he got bumped several times. I didn't know he was going to get up until the last 70 metres."
