Ivar, who started his career in Argentina and came to the U.S. to make three Breeders' Cup Mile appearances for trainer Paulo Lobo, has been retired to stud in Argentina.

Lobo confirmed the media reports of the 7-year-old horse's retirement to Haras Carampangue.

"He was very good to be around," Lobo told Horse Racing Nation. "I was very lucky to have him for almost four years. He always delivered his best in very high competition."

Bred in Brazil, Ivar was 3-for-3 in Argentina, and he won the 2020 Turf Mile (G1) at Keeneland in his fourth U.S. start for Lobo. His other stakes win came in the Jonathan B. Schuster Memorial at Horseshoe Indiana in 2022.

In his three Breeders' Cup Mile appearances, he finished fourth in 2020, third in 2021 and fourth last year. He came back to finish second in the Pegasus World Cup Turf Invitational (G1), which was his final start.

Ivar's overall record is 16: 6-3-2 with earnings of $1,586,303. Sired by Agnes Gold, he is owned by Gilberto Sayão Da Silva and Paulo Fernando de Oliveira, two longtime friends from Brazil.
