It's a Bird Faces Oaklawn Handicap DQ

It's a Bird could be disqualified from his April 4 victory in the Oaklawn Handicap (gr. II) as the result of a positive test for the prohibited substance naproxine, an anti-inflammatory medication.

According to model rules of the Association of Racing Commissioners International, naproxine is a Class 4 drug for which the recommended penalty is disqualification and forfeiture of the purse and a fine for the trainer. It's a Bird earned $300,000 for owner Edmund Gann with the Oaklawn Handicap victory.
