Breeders' Cup scratches: Inthemidstofbiz, Amanzi Yimpilo ruled out
Keeneland's TCA Stakes (G2) has been an extremely productive Breeders' Cup prep over the years, but it will have no representatives this year in the Filly and Mare Sprint following the scratch of Inthemidstofbiz.
The Daily Racing Form's Marty McGee reported Thursday on Twitter that the 4-year-old filly, who was 20-1 on the morning line, would miss the Breeders' Cup after coming down with a slight fever.
One of this year's feel good stories, 4-year-old Inthemidstofbiz was claimed for $20,000 around this time last year by trainer Cipriano Contreras. She has won three races in a row, including her upset score in the TCA last out.
She was not given much of a chance in Saturday's race at 30-1 on the morning line, but her scratch could help to slightly soften an expected blazing early pace in the Filly and Mare Sprint.
On Wednesday, Breeders' Cup Sprint favorite Vekoma scratched after also spiking a fever, elevating Lasting Legacy into the field.
In the Mile, European shipper One Master has been withdrawn. The defection moves Order of Australia into the field In the Juvenile Turf, Harlan Estate was scratched from the also-eligible list; while Tetragonal (20-1) scratched from the Juvenile Fillies Turf. Invincible Gal replaces Tetragonal in the starting gate for the Juvenile Fillies Turf.
On Friday morning, Senate Majority Floor Leader Damon Thayer, one of Amanzi Yimpilo owners, confirmed that his filly would have to be withdrawn from the Juvenile Turf Sprint.
