Interrupted Squeezes Rail for Penn Oaks Win
Pin Oak's Interrupted found enough room to rally along the rail to win the inaugural $100,000 Penn Oaks with an unrelenting drive in the final strives at Penn National on Saturday.
Lead early by Je Suis Enchantee, the six-horse field traveled :23.93, :48.10, 1:13.14 into the stretch. Interrupted settled in the pack with a ground-saving trip. Ready to Act, the 3-5 favorite, rallied three-wide to run at the pacesetter. Piloted by jockey Angel Serpa, Interrupted rallied on the inside to challenge Je Suis Enchantee, getting a half-length advantage under the wire.
Ready to Act ran late for a solid third-place finish and the 9-5 second-choice, Famous Alice, finished fourth. The final time for a mile over the good turf course was 1:37.02.
Trained by H. Graham Motion, Interrupted entered the Penn Oaks after a third-place finish in the Florida Oaks on March 8, 5 3/4 lengths behind Testa Rossi. By Broken Vow, the 3-year-old daughter of Alternate, by Seattle Slew, improves her record to three wins and one third from four lifetime starts with earnings of more than $120,000.
