Inglorious Headlines Woodbine Oaks

A field of nine will go postward Sunday in the $500,000 Woodbine Oaks, the most prestigious race in the country for Canadian-bred three-year-old fillies.

Post time for the 56th edition of the 1 1/8-mile classic over Woodbine's Polytrack is 5:16 pm (EDT). All fillies carry 121 pounds. Also on Sunday's card is the $150,000 Plate Trial S., which has attracted nine Canadian-foaled three-year-olds with aspirations of competing in Canada's most famous horse race, the C$1 million Queen's Plate on June 26 at Woodbine.

The Oaks post position draw took place at WEGZ Stadium Bar in Vaughan, Ontario, on Thursday with champion boxer Micky Ward, the inspiration for the Oscar-winning movie The Fighter, as Woodbine's special guest.

INGLORIOUS (Hennessy), trained by Josie Carroll and ridden by Luis Contreras, was installed as the 5-2 favorite on the morning line. The bay filly is a three-time winner in five career outings, all in stakes, and comes into the Oaks off a popular 1 1/2-length score in the May 15 La Lorgnette S. over the Polytrack. She is the field's leading money winner with than $350,000 in earnings.
