Indiana Derby: Sir Greylind will be scratched, bringing field to 7

Sir Greylind will be scratched from Saturday's Grade 3 Indiana Derby because of a "minor issue," according to a news release from Horseshoe Indianapolis.

Trained by Grant Forster, the 3-year-old Speightster colt would have made his stakes debut in the race.

Unraced as a 2-year-old Sir Greylind won his debut, a seven-furlong maiden-claiming race at Keeneland, by 3 1/4 lengths at 13-1 in the nine horse-field.

He was second in his next start, a starter allowance at Churchill Downs on May 9. In his most recent start, a May 31 starter allowance at Churchill Downs, he drew away in the stretch to win by 5 1/4 lengths.

Sir Greylind is owned by James Colwell, Ryan Chanley and Post Time Thoroughbreds, which also bred the colt.

Forster also entered Chatalas, winner of last year's Chandelier (G2), in the Indiana Oaks (G3) for her 2024 debut. She was sent to Forster for the race by regular trainer Mark Glatt.

The Indiana Derby is the 12th race on the Saturday car, with a post time of 6:41 p.m. EDT.
